What are you giving up for Lent? It’s not an uncommon question this time of year and it’s one to which there are usually several standard answers – chocolate, alcohol, junk food.
However, the Ash Wednesday service at Santa Cruz Church on South Sixth Avenue focused on a proactive approach. The focus of the Mass was abstaining from sin and taking responsibility for changing harmful behavior.
As Tucsonans left the service—their foreheads marked with ash—some shared their opinions on Lent and how they plan to observe the season.
